Volunteering at Kiker
One hundred years ago, PTA founder Alice McLellan
Birney said, "Let us have no more croaking as to what cannot be done;
let us see what can be done, and above all see that it is done." This can-do spirit still drives the PTA today. The Kiker
PTA chapter thrives on volunteers who collectively work to provide a
dynamic learning environment for our students. Whatever your skill set
or availability, you can be involved!
2010-2011 Volunteer Co-ordinator Openings
We are looking for volunteers for the following co-ordinator positions. If you are interested in becoming a coordinator of any of these committees and have questions or concerns, please email Anmarie Bochey or call 657-4288. Thank You!
- Butterfly Garden: This one is for the inner gardener that needs to come out! Help to beautify Kiker’s campus by planting and maintaining our butterfly beds. This can be done alone or with a small committee of fellow caretakers.
- Community Support: Kiker generously provides items (books, coats, shoes, clothing, etc.) to our “sister” school, Allison Elementary. A very meaningful position, this coordinator helps volunteers foster a spirit of community in our children. In times of crisis or natural disaster, this committee steps up and takes action!
- Earth Day: Go green! This coordinator helps design and implement fun eco-activities to teach students, teachers, and parents about environmental awareness. The day’s celebration is a culmination of the studies conducted throughout the school prior to Earth Day.
- Green Apple Savings: Coordinator needed to help with a membership drive at the beginning of the school year. Help with reminder notices by email every two weeks and then support the student tellers as students make deposits twice a month from 7:15-7:45 am at morning assembly.
- Parents As Partners (PAP): The coordinator will simply send emails asking for committee volunteers’ signups when the teachers need help. This is a great Coordinator job to do from home! *Volunteers supervise classes while teachers are conferencing. Background check and 1 training class is required of volunteers in order to be a parent as partner.
- Partners in Education (PIE): Both staff and parent coordinator needed. PIE builds relationships with area businesses to enrich the student environment. Mentors and volunteers are key to enhance the learning atmosphere.
- Spelling Bee Coordinator: Needed to organize practice sessions & volunteers for 'Spelling Bee' Theme Night. This event will take place at the school as part of one of our fall general PTA meetings. Students practice and compete leading up to the ‘main event’.
