ABOUT THE KIKER PTA

Kiker PTA provides parents an opportunity to take an active role in their child's education. Kiker PTA supports Kiker Elementary by fundraising, organizing volunteers, and co-ordinating many valuable initiatives at Kiker each year, including:

• Programs - Math Pentathlon, Lego Robotics, Science Lab, Reflections Arts Recognition & Achievement Program
• Special Events - Science Night, Read-A-Rama, International Night, Bike Fest
• Classroom Support Funding for additional supplies
• School fundraising Efforts: Box Tops, Campbells Labels for Education, Ink Cartridge Recycling, HEB Love Your Library
• School Grounds enhancement - playground additions, landscaping
• Student Directory Publication
• Teacher & Staff Appreciation

Kiker PTA's initiatives are only made possible thanks to the strong Kiker Community support of our annual fundraising events, which include: School Spirit Shirts & Water Bottle Sale, Sally Foster Gift Wrap Sale, Pavers Sale, and our Back-to-school supplies Pre-Order Program. 2009-2010 KIKER PTA ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• An amazing day of fun and exercise was had by all at Bike Fest
• A trip around the world for some exotic foods and rich culture at International Night
• Love Your Library event raised over $6600 for new book purchases that benefited teacher classroom libraries as well as our sister school at Allison Elementary.
• Classics were read and shared at the Book Swap
• Kids had fun preparing for and participating in the Spelling Bee and Math Pentathlon.
• PTA purchased 22 document-cameras and projectors to be used by our dedicated teachers and staff.
• Brand-new tether balls were bought for recess play, paid for by the generous collection of boxtops.
• PTA assisted once again in classroom books and subscriptions, as well as provide financial support for the science lab's human sundial.

2008-2009 KIKER PTA ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Ensured Kiker’s voice was heard at AISD board meetings in support of shortening the drive to middle school
• Gave classroom support money to all of our teachers
• Held a fun 'Read-A-Rama' Event in December
• Put on an educational and fun 'Family Science Night'
• Answered many questions at 'Middle School 101' Event
• Helped support the science lab and Glass Harp productions for the older grades
• Funded the Math Pentathlon, Lego Robotics, and Reflections programs
• Raised almost $7,500 for new library books with 'HEB Love Your Library' Fundraiser
• Published the annual student directory
• Appreciated staff with 4 lunches throughout the year and a free Kiker Spirit T-Shirt
• Recognized our 10 year staff members
